Soil Moisture Sensor

This soil moisture sensor measures the amount of water in the soil around it, making it ideal for monitoring garden plants or indoor potted plants. It’s a must-have tool for anyone building a connected garden system.

The sensor works by passing a small current through its two probes and measuring the soil’s resistance. Wet soil conducts electricity more easily (lower resistance), while dry soil conducts poorly (higher resistance). This allows you to monitor soil moisture and get reminders to water your plants when needed. For easy Arduino integration, it works perfectly with the IO Expansion Shield.

The sensor’s probes are coated with Immersion Gold, which prevents oxidation and ensures long-term durability.
